2013 Camp Schedule

The final(ish) schedule is ready for our 2013 Blue Ridge DSA Mini Camp!

Final locations for each activity are still to-be-determined, and we may have some tweaks, but this should be pretty close.  Highlights of electives this year will include Wilderness Search & Rescue, the debut of *brand new* Rally-FrEe badges, Letterboxing, and Lure Coursing (*lure coursing is dependent upon weather.)  And of course the full complement of Trails, Water, and Shaping activities, and all the fun camp stuff like s'mores and campfires.

2013 Mini Camp!

Just a quick note to let you know that registration for the 2013 Blue Ridge DSA Mini Camp will be opening soon! 

Dates for next year will be July 3-7, 2013. 

More details will follow, with a few changes here and there.

We're changing up the schedule a bit based on feedback from last year.  We'll begin on Wednesday around lunchtime, and we'll cover most of our Orientation & Safety briefings, along with a few games to keep you and your dog awake and entertained. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be full days, with lots of opportunities for hands-on work with your dog from dawn to dusk.  Sunday we will have an awards brunch, you'll check out and pay your camp tabs, and then "hug out" - and then you can be on your way to travel back home.

We had a wonderful time last year, and are so pleased to hear how many campers are looking forward to returning this year for our second Blue Ridge Mini Camp.  We look forward to seeing old friends, along with some new faces!

2012 Camp Schedule

Here's the schedule for the 2012 Blue Ridge Mini Camp (still subject to change.)  Tons of fun in store!  Campers will receive a copy of the schedule via email, and also printed in the binders you'll get at registration.

Arfs and Crafts

Here's one of the three "Arfs and Crafts" projects that will be available to participate in at our 2012 Mini Camp: photo frames made from CD jewel cases. 

We're busy putting the final touches on the schedule, and gathering up all the great items we have for our goodie bags and raffles.  Your Blue Ridge Mini Camp tote bags will be full of super stuff, and there will be prizes all week for being great campers!

Just wanted to share some additional pictures taken during this week's "recon" trip to the camp site.  What an awesome place!  We are all getting pretty excited!  Stay tuned soon for the tentative schedule of events.

Here is a photo of the inside of the lodge - plenty of room for indoor activities:

For those of you who were wondering what the inside of the cabins are set up like...

In this photo, the camera was facing the front door.  There are some beds set up in bunks, some not. Each cabin in set up to sleep about 12, and we'll be putting more like 6 campers in each.  All of the cabins are pretty much the same (except in August they will be full of happy people and dogs!)
